DESCRIPTION:
The Roswell Chapter is hosting this talk for all members.
Have you wanted to use that new camera of yours to take videos but have been hesitant to try? Have you wanted to capture an exciting action sequence that you can view later but don’t know how? The cameras we use today not only help us take great photos but are also great at making videos. Many of the cameras we use in our nature photography are also used by professional film makers. Please join us on November 9th at 7:30 to learn from Tom Simpson all about getting started in videography as he presents Videography 101-The Camera. Tom will explain all of the basics of how to use your camera to make memorable nature movies, what settings to use in different situations, and how to set up the camera, what type of focusing strategy to use, and what goes into making a good video. Tom will follow this session up with Videography 201-Post Processing to help you with editing you video clips and creating your own work of art.

Tom has served on the GNPA Board in various roles and is Past President for GNPA. He has also been Chapter Coordinator for several GNPA Chapters. Tom is a biologist and following service in the Army Chemical Corps his career has included faculty positions at MTSU, Wake Forest, and Agnes Scott College followed by 35 years in environmental consulting.
His photographic interests cover a wide range but are primarily around nature including landscapes, wildlife, and macro photography with a particular focus on nature video. He has photos published in the book on the Natural Communities of Georgia and the Journal of the National Wildlife Federation and has a collection of prints on permanent display at a local Uptown Café gallery.
Tom will present on how to get started with video including some suggestions on cameras and gear, understanding the parts of your camera’s video menu including basic setup recommendations for video. He will also provide a few tips on getting more out of shooting video.
