Montana Photo Triangle
July 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
HAMILTON Chapter hosts Bill Berryman M.D., a Columbus-area physician who started with photography in 1973 while in the Marine Corps, shooting documentary photographs with a 4×5 camera.
Next came a personal 35 mm camera, with which he would shoot about three rolls per session, “thinking I had really nailed it.” Then, about 10 years ago on a trip to Kalispell, Montana, he saw what a local nature photographer was able to do with a Canon Rebel 10-megapixel digital camera, printing beautiful images on 13×19 paper.
Bill immediately went to the local Costco and purchased his first digital camera. Now that “film is free,” he shoots with three Canon models: the 7D Mark II, the 50-megapixel 5Ds R and the 1D X Mark II. He prints his own images, using an Epson 3880 printer. “Before, I had to send my film off, wait a long time, then live with whatever I got back.”
Bill has returned to Kalispell numerous times and calls it a “Bucket List” destination for nature photographers. He focuses on the Triple D Ranch, Glacier National Park and the nearby National Bison Range.
He is a lifetime member of GNPA, with the Hamilton chapter.
