July 16, 2020: Tom Simpson presents “Videography for Nature Photographers”
July 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The GNPA Smyrna Chapter is excited to have Tom Simpson present Videography for Nature Photographers via Zoom Webinar. All GNPA members are invited to attend. You must be a current GNPA member to attend and must register on the GNPA website (see instructions below).
Tom will present on how to apply video to enhance your creativity as a nature photographer including hybrid photography, time lapse photography, video focus stacking, image extraction from individual video frames, use of a panning slider, and examples of how video expands opportunities to capture “natural events” that might otherwise be missed by standard single shot images. He will also review various methods for post processing and enhancing production of your final video.
Tom has served on the GNPA Board in various roles and is the current Past President for GNPA. He has also been Chapter Coordinator for Roswell, Smyrna, Decatur, and Alpharetta GNPA Chapters. Tom is a biologist and following service in the Army Chemical Corps his career has included faculty positions at MTSU, Wake Forest, and Agnes Scott College followed by 35 years in environmental consulting.
His photographic interests cover a wide range but are primarily around nature including landscapes, wildlife, and macro photography with a particular focus on birds in flight and nature video. He has photos published in the book on the Natural Communities of Georgia and the Journal of the National Wildlife Federation and has a collection of prints on permanent display at a local Uptown Café gallery.
