Framing and Matting Your Prized Photos
September 6 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Getting your photo ready to print:
Seth Scwhartz and Neal McEwen will demonstrate how they use Photoshop or Lightroom, respectively, to properly size a photo for printing, whether the printing is done by a third party or with your own printer.
Hands-on matting and framing:
This is where everyone will get a chance to participate. You can participate in whatever way works best for you:
- If you bring a printed photo in the size of either 8.5 X 11 or 8 X 10, Seth will have matboards available and show you how to cut your own mat for your photo. If you have a frame, bring that, too, and Neal and Seth will help you put together a finished matted and framed photo.
- You may have a frame and mat of a size different than above, and you’d like to get a photo into that frame and mat for an exhibit or for your home. This could be a new mat and frame or one you’ve used before that still has another photo in it. Bring a printed photo the same size as the mat opening, and Seth and Neal will assist you in getting that new photo into the frame and mat.
- Finally, if you’d like to simply learn by observing, you can watch and help others get their photos framed and/or matted, and you’ll be able to do it yourself the next time.
- Everyone is welcome to share their good and bad experiences on printing, matting, framing, etc. It is a learning process where hearing about the experience of others can be quite helpful.
Other creative printing options:
Mary Stiles will bring some of her prints on metal and glass to show other creative possibilities to display your photos.
